HELENSBURGH'S wheelchair tennis star Gordon Reid is aiming to cap off a successful sporting year with another victory as he prepares to compete in the final competition of 2024.
Reid and the rest of the world's top eight men’s, women’s and quad singles players will take to the courts in Arnhem, Netherlands, next week for the NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters and UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters - the ITF's year-end wheelchair tennis championships.
Having finally got his hands on a Paralympic doubles gold medal in Paris earlier this summer, the Burgh man added to his Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon titles with partner Alfie Hewett and is now looking to finish off on a high.
Seeding has now been confirmed before the draw takes place tomorrow (Friday, November 8), with Reid seeded fifth in the men's singles, while Hewett, who won silver in the singles event in Paris, is seeded second behind top-ranked Japanese player Tokito Oda.
Reid and Hewett are top seeds in the doubles competition.
Running from November 11-17, the tournament marks the 30th anniversary of the prestigious event first being held in Eindhoven with NEC as title sponsor.
The ITF Wheelchair Doubles Masters is the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis doubles event. First staged in 2000, the season-ending event features the world’s top eight men’s doubles partnerships, top six women’s doubles partnerships and top four quad doubles partnerships.
Daily coverage of the matches will be available across the ITF website and ITF digital channels throughout the tournament, starting with news from the draw on Friday.
