A 'SUBDUED' Rhu Amateurs Colts team held onto their unbeaten league run on Saturday but manager Jamie Kjorstad admitted his side's draw with Busby 'felt like a loss'.

It was an early rise for Rhu as they travelled to Shettleston on November 2 for a nine o'clock kick off.

And they took a two-goal lead inside just 15 minutes, however, the home team fought back to level the match through a late quickfire double, shattering the positive mood among the colts.

Kjorstad said: "I would probably have taken the draw before the game as Busby have always been difficult opponents but taking the two-goal lead early on and then to lose the two quick goals at the end makes it feel like a loss.

"The dressing room was like a morgue when I went in after the game which just shows how much the boys were feeling about it."

It was the visitors who started the stronger of the two sides in the Glasgow Colleges Football Association BOCA Championship clash and they took control of the opening period of the game.

Ross McKenna opening the scoring for Rhu with a low drive past the keeper then a minute later Molloy got the second when his shot from just inside the box found the net.

Busby, who had been on the back foot since kick off, started to get into the game but despite some pressure from the home side the Rhu lads kept them at bay, although chances for the visitors were becoming pretty rare as well.

Despite increasing the pressure on the Rhu defence there was no further scoring in the half.

The second 45 should have seen the visitors put the game to bed but they could not find that elusive third goal.

Some excellent goalkeeping by the Busby keeper and aided by some poor finishing from the Rhu front line meant that there was always a chance for the home side to get back into the game.

That chance came with five minutes left; a mistake in the centre of the visitors' defence saw the ball roll into the path of a Busby forward and he coolly slotted the ball past Lewis in goal.

Buoyed by their good fortune the home side pushed on again for a leveller and a minute later found themselves tying the game.

A shot at goal was parried by Lewis but only into the path of the forward who knocked the ball into the net.

It was a very subdued dressing room after the game as the management and players reflected on the draw.

Boss Kjorstad added: "However, we go again this weekend, this time nearer home with the game against Clydebank Red Star taking place at the Vale Academy in Alexandria [on Saturday, November 9]."

Squad: Lewis, McConnell, Jeffrey, McKenna, Henry, Tadlock, K Kjorstad, Adams, Court, Scullion. Milton, Burch, Brown, Molloy, Moy, Milton.
