RHU Amateurs' Caledonian League team welcome an in-form Riverside AFC to Ardenconnel Park this weekend - with a fun-filled afternoon in store.

Riverside have won four of their last five games and currently sit in eighth place in the First Division, according to the latest league standings.

However, Rhu will be aiming to maintain a slight recent upturn in fortunes and extend their own unbeaten run to four games.

Gordon BrodieGordon Brodie (Image: Tom Watt) Boss Gordon Brodie told the Advertiser: "This has been a very tough start for the boys in a very competitive league setup.

"After some early setbacks we are looking at building and moving forward this season and for the future with the newly-formed under-19s, which we hope will see the club progress and get back to its glory days."

Rhu picked up a point in a 2-2 draw with Stirling University at the end of September, after earning a much-needed first league victory of the season against Cambusbarron Rovers a fortnight previously.

And this Saturday will be a special occasion for all involved, with the club celebrating its annual legends day.

Brodie added: "On Saturday, we are also welcoming legends from the past who have played for the Rhu, management, committee, their families and supporters who have continued to support us in the good and the bad times.

"The club is moving into its 128th year which makes us one of the oldest amateur teams around and with a very proud and valued history.

"Every year we like to pay tribute to the players that have worn the famous red shirt and graced Ardenconnel.

"I want the players to realise how important the club is to so many people both past and present and bringing them all together on this special day is a massive opportunity for the boys to have.

"We will also remember all those that can't be with us and will endeavour to raise a glass for them after the game as we share stories and hopefully celebrate a very important three points for the Rhu."

The bar opens at 1pm on October 12 and kick-off is at 2pm.
