SCOTT WEIR and Ashley Bolton have been crowned Craighelen Lawn Tennis and Squash Club’s singles tennis champions for 2024.
Scott defeated Ross Birss in the final of the men’s tournament, while Ashley edged out Danielle Gordon in the ladies’ event.
Ross, however, took more than a little consolation from the day when he won both the men’s doubles and mixed doubles finals, partnering Chris Bowman to victory in the former over Arran and David Boxhall and joining forces with Jackie Morris to defeat Sarah Colman and Scott Weir in the final of the latter.
The ladies’ doubles title was won by Laura McConnell and Amy Parry, who defeated Ashley Bolton and Sarah Colman in the final.
The day also featured men’s, ladies’ and mixed ‘pot luck’ doubles finals, with Arran Boxhall and Bob Knox beating David Boxhall and Stephen McKeown in the men’s final.
Lisa White enjoyed a double triumph, partnering Jackie Morris to victory over Sandra Juster and Fiona MacPherson in the ladies’ final and teaming up with Scott Weir to see off Fiona MacPherson and Bob Knox in the ladies’ final.
A club spokesperson said: “Huge congratulations to this year's winners, runners up and competitors.
“A beautiful day, but a tough one for those out playing in the sunshine.
“Big thanks to the committee for all their hard work in putting it together and to everyone who supported the day.”
