LOMOND and Helensburgh’s first XV returned to winning ways on Saturday with a battling 33-28 win in a thrilling West 2 clash away to Cumbernauld.
The result moves L&H up to fourth place in the table, with 12 points from their first four matches, ahead of a trip to Coatbridge to face Waysiders Drumpellier this Saturday, September 21. Kick-off at Langloan is at 3pm.
Last season's corresponding fixture ended in a 13-13 draw, with the two teams finishing the campaign cheek-by-jowl in sixth and seventh places in the final West 2 standings.
The Monklands men have only one win to their name so far this season, though it came on home turf against North Lanarkshire rivals Cumbernauld, and last time out W/D were unlucky to lose out 29-22 away to Carrick, though they did secure two bonus points, meaning L&H know they'll face a tough 80 minutes if they're to bring home a win on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the L&H second XV return to action on home soil in West Reserve Division 2 this Saturday when they welcome their Dalziel counterparts to Ardencaple, also with a 3pm kick-off.
The Lomond and Helensburgh youth teams took on St Columba’s School from Kilmacolm on Saturday, with the under-15s winning 47-0 and the S2/U14 and U16 teams falling to defeat.
This weekend’s youth fixture list includes matches against Lenzie Academy on Saturday and, for the club’s younger players, the Cartha Queens Park rugby festival for primary age groups on Sunday.
