HELENSBURGH’S ladies’ second team have missed out on being champions in their division after a very close loss over the weekend.
Team captain Barbara Gillies praised her team for giving it their all over the season which took them all over the greater Glasgow area and she looks ahead to competing in the higher division next season.
The team missed out on becoming overall champions of division six after a very close 4–5 loss at home to Cambuslang.
There are four division 7’s and Helensburgh won division 7d, and had to play in a series of play offs to see who became overall division winners.
They beat Mount Vernon in the opening leg of the play off but just fell short after the visiting Cambuslang youngsters proved too good on the night despite the home side fighting for every point.
The club’s next coaching block has started with classes for all ages including adult beginners and improvers.
The veteran’s season is also just about to start with the club having five teams competing in the ladies and gents open section and 60 plus.
Details of how to book can be found on the club’s website at clubspark.lta.org.uk/HelensburghLTC/Coaching.
