RHU Amateurs got their new Caledonian League campaign off to a successful start with a comfortable 5-0 win away to Callander Thistle on Saturday.
Ryan Jones led the way with a double, while Robert Caldwell, Jordan Wyllie and Stuart Welsh also found the net.
On a day of big wins across the First Division fixture list, three of the league's new arrivals topped the standings after the opening round of games, with Bannockburn, St Patrick's FP and Campsie Minerva, all of whom joined the Caledonian AFA set-up from the Scottish Premier AFA during the close season, ahead of Gordon Brodie's men on goal difference.
Brodie's side face a tough early season test on Wednesday night with a local derby against St Patrick's at Ardenconnel Park (KO 7pm).
And another big game awaits for Rhu this Saturday, August 17, when they play host to a Milton AFC side who were relegated from the top flight at the end of last season.
Kick-off at Ardenconnel Park on Saturday is at 2pm.
With a big season lying ahead, Rhu are looking for new players to add to their Caledonian League squad in all positions, most notably a goalkeeper.
If you're interested in becoming part of the flourishing Rhu set-up, send a message to the club's Facebook page (facebook.com/RhuAFC) or contact Gordon Brodie on 07711 120323.
Meanwhile, Rhu's under-19s held their Knightswood counterparts to a 1-1 draw at Ardenconnel Park on Saturday in their opening group stage fixture in the Scottish Premier AFA Under-19 League Cup – and the Rhu youngsters' first ever competitive match as a team.
Rhu showed great spirit and determination to come back and level from a goal down, levelling the tie with some 15 minutes remaining when Charles Livingston crossed from the right to find his brother Corey arriving into the box with a powerful header into the top left corner.
Nathan McEwan was voted the players' man of the match after another outstanding performance between the sticks.
The Rhu under-19 side's second group stage game was away to Drumchapel on Wednesday night, before a home tie against Kilsyth this Friday, August 16.
Rhu's over-35s also showed plenty of fighting spirit to hold Glasgow On The Ball to a 3-3 draw in their latest league fixture. Next up for the Rhu veterans is their final home match of the league campaign, against Milngavie on Friday, August 23.
Club memberships at Rhu are now open, with membership for the full season costing just £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s.
In addition to supporting the club's four teams, club members also get 30 per cent off solo memberships at The Journey fitness centre in Helensburgh, 10 per cent off at JLC and reduced rates on clubhouse hire.
A club spokesperson said: "Please come on board and support your local team and help us achieve success both on and off the park."
Membership can be purchased at Rhu's next two home games, this Wednesday and Saturday, or alternatively by contacting the Facebook page, where the club's bank details are available.
