Garelochhead Bowling Club’s members are getting set to cheer on one of their own at the Bowls Scotland national championships this weekend.
Fresh from partnering Andrew Aitken and Keith Tait to victory for the second year in a row at the club’s N.J. Slee Open Triples tournament earlier this month, Kieran Smith will take on Dean Riva, of Gifford Bowling Club in Haddington, in the first round of the gents’ junior singles at Bowls Scotland’s HQ at Northfield Bowling Club in Ayr.
Kieran's good form this summer also saw him finish runner-up in the junior singles at the Dunbartonshire Bowling Association's county finals, played at Renton Bowling Club at the end of June.
The first round ties at Northfield will all be played on Sunday, with Keiran’s match taking place at rink 1 on Green B.
The tie will get under way at 12 noon.
The winner will play either Frazer Taylor (West End BC) or Liam Sharpe (Airdrie Central) in the second round on Monday morning, with the third round to follow later that day and the semi-finals and final to be played on Tuesday, July 30.
The Bowls Scotland national finals begin on Saturday and run through until Saturday, August 3.
