A YOUNG bowler from Garelochhead has won the right to compete against the best in Scotland later this summer.
Kieran Smith will play in the Bowls Scotland national junior singles finals at Northfield in Ayr between July 27 and August 3 after triumphing in the ‘District 11’ finals at Old Kilpatrick.
He’ll be the sole player flying the flag for Garelochhead at the national championships after Drew Aitken missed out in the singles district final and Iain McAlpine, Paddy Paterson, Bobby White and Allan Roy junior were edged out in the fours.
Kieran’s progress also means that his home club has moved the date of its annual N.J. Slee open triples competition, which will now be played on Saturday, July 13, starting at 9.30am.
For more information on that tournament, call Elie Dobrijevic on 07528 529253 or see the ‘Garelochhead Bowling Club’ page on Facebook.
