HELENSBURGH residents are being urged to lend their support to a new prize draw to support the development of sport in the town.
Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Club's web-based draw will pay out £250 each month, and the club says it hopes to see the draw expand to offer further prizes as participant numbers increase.
The club wants to sign up players, former players, supporters, and local people to help it raise the funds it needs to keep the club running and maintain and improve its clubhouse, playing fields and equipment.
Participants can sign up for a monthly stake of £5 by direct debit.
The new 'Ardencaple Draw' will be launched on Saturday, June 15, with the first monthly prize winners announced on July 15 and each month thereafter.
Club president Dave Anderson said: “We are an inclusive community amateur sports club and aim to help young people realise their potential both on and off the playing field.
"However, each year, we need to raise over £100,000 simply to keep running. Inflation has massively impacted our costs and we have held down our fees to ensure access for young people of all backgrounds.
We previously ran a club draw with numbers picked from a hat.
"By moving to a web-based platform, we hope to reach a wide range of people with the interests of the club at heart who might be willing to have a small flutter in the knowledge that in doing so they will be helping to support a great local sports club that has been at the heart of Helensburgh’s community for over 60 years.”
If you would like to support the club you can sign up at draw.ourclublotto.co.uk/ardencaple.
