Helensburgh athletes competed against runners from across the country in a Scottish championship last month.
Runners from the Helensburgh Amateur Athletics Club [AAC] visited Motherwell’s Strathclyde Park on Sunday, March 31 for the at the Tom Scott 10 Mile at Strathclyde Park – which doubled as the Scottish 10 Mile Championships.
Representing the Helensburgh club were Claire Heasman, Richard O’Grady, and Ian Brown.
Making his debut at the distance, Richard O’Grady crossed the finish line just outside the hour mark in 60 minutes 43 seconds securing him 13th place Male Masters 40+.
Ian Brown also placed 13th in his age group, this time in the Male Masters 60+ in 72 minutes 18 seconds.
Claire Heasman finished 16th overall female in 63 minutes 47 seconds and placed third in the Female Masters 40+ category, ensuring she went home with a bronze medal.
Claire also achieved third place overall in the female category at the Dunbartonshire Amateur Athletics Association’s [DAAA] 10 Mile Road Race on Sunday, April 21.
She also secured second Overall Female in the DAAA 10 Mile Championships, and placed third overall in the West District 10 Mile Championships' female category.
