HELENSBURGH Rugby Club has announced the return of its annual sevens festival.
This year’s tournament will take place at Ardencaple on Saturday, May 25.
The organisers are hoping to emulate the success of the 2023 competition, which made a welcome return to the club’s calendar after an absence of several years and which saw teams from Cumbernauld, Glasgow Caledonian University, Lenzie, Oban Lorne, Loch Lomond and the Royal Navy do battle, with GCU defeating Lenzie 34-12 in the final.
This year the club plans to expand the successful 2023 format by inviting under-18 and under-16 teams to participate as well as adult sides.
If you know of a club that would be interested in taking part in the event, get in touch by contacting the club through its official website (helensburghrugby.co.uk).
Meanwhile, the Lomond-Helensburgh first XV’s final match of the season ended in a heavy defeat away to league leaders Cambuslang on Saturday; L&H’s final match of the campaign is scheduled to be played on May 11 at home to Bishopton, who are three points behind Cambuslang and have two games left to play.
Off the pitch, the Helensburgh Rugby Club AGM takes place in the clubhouse at Ardencaple this Thursday, April 25, at 7pm, followed by the AGM of Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club at 8.15pm. All club members are invited to attend.
