HELENSBURGH’S young rugby players are off to Murrayfield today (Wednesday, December 6) for the final of the National Schools Plate.
The under-16 squad – made up of players from Lomond School and Helensburgh RFC - will play Dunbar Grammar School in the showpiece occasion after beating Lathallan Schools 24-21 in a closely-fought semi-final at Ardencaple last month.
The Helensburgh and Lomond youths began their campaign with a narrow 22-19 win at home to St Leonard’s Madras Blues, from St Andrews.
They'll be hoping to go one better than the under-18 squad, who lost out to Morrison's Academy in the U18 Bowl final last year.
The club is running a supporters’ bus to today's match, leaving Ardencaple at 12.30pm sharp.
A handful of places are still available on the bus - to book your seat, click here.
Admission to the match itself is free of charge.
