FOUR cadets from Cove Sailing Club travelled to East Kilbride on Sunday to take part in RYA Scotland’s OnBoard Festival.
One of three events organised by the sport’s governing body in Scotland this summer, the event - held at the James Hamilton Heritage Loch - gave the Cove cadets the chance to get together and experience sailing alongside youngsters from other clubs in a fun, festival atmosphere away from the places they are used to learning to sail.
A Cove spokesperson said: “The cadets got to experience different types of boats, sailing conditions, sailing away from their club and meeting other sailors.
“The cadets loved the fun and engaging session and we are thankful to RYA Scotland for putting this on.”
A similar event was held at Lochcarron Sailing Club in the Highlands on Saturday.
An RYA Scotland spokesperson said: “Fantastic to get young sailors on the water at both venues, with a massive thanks to the host clubs and coaches who looked like they fully enjoyed the sessions!”
