A NEW outdoor season is well under way at Helensburgh Bowling Club – and now local residents who have never played before are being invited along to give the game a go at an event this weekend.
The ‘Try Bowls’ day is being held at the green and clubhouse on Saturday, May 22 from 11am until 3pm.
As the description suggests, anyone is welcome to come along and have a go at the game during what promises to be a fun four hours.
Refreshments and biscuits will be provided, and the only stipulation for those who would like to take part is that flat shoes or trainers must be worn to protect the playing surface.
The club’s green has been open since April 19 with all the appropriate Covid-19 procedures in place, with the busiest day so far being a very successful mixed competition on the weekend of May 1 and 2, in which everyone enjoyed playing or spectating – and being able to socialise outdoors once again.
The club is also offering new bowlers a reduced fee of £50 for the first year of full membership, with further discounts for under-16s and under-25s.
