HELENSBURGH Amateur Athletics Club’s young competitors put in another strong showing at the third and final Scottish Athletics Indoor League match of the season at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
The day was a particular success for the U20 girls' team, who secured third place of the 17 teams across the league and qualified for the Scottish finals this Sunday, March 8.
In the U20 squad, Katie Flett was third in the 400m and fourth in the 800m; Amy Court was fifth in both the hurdles and 200m, and Sophie Michie was fourth in the shot put and 10th in the 60m sprint – good luck to all three this Sunday.

Others achieving top five placings were a trio of U17 athletes – Robert Court, who made it a hat trick of new best times and distances with a second in the high jump, third in the shot put and 10th in the 60m sprint; Oliver Greetham, who gained new bests in the 200m and a fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 4.77m; and Jenny Scott, who took an excellent second place in the 800m.
For the U15 boys, Alex Brown was fifth in the high jump in a new best height, and in the U11s Murray MacLeod continued to show his athletic abilities with two third places, both in new best times, in the 60m and 600m.
New personal bests were set by Summer Curtis, Kerr Tokeley, Josh van Impe, Lottie Horrocks and Cameron McDaid in the 60m sprint; Eloise Dunn and Amy Court in the 200m; Teo Dorizon in the 60m hurdles; Rory McClearn in the 600m; and Lewis Cameron, Libby Maclean, Matthew Gall, William Scott and Katie Flett in the 800m.

In the field events new distances or heights were set in the shot put by Harris Maclean and Libby Maclean, in the high jump by Alex Brown, and in the long jump by Eloise Dunn.
Congratulations also go to U11s Cameron Lock, Lewis MacLeod, Poppy Carswell and Claire Wilson on performing well in their first competition for HAAC.
