PETER and June Haggarty made it a double triumph when they lifted both the Ben Bouie Trophy and the Ardmore Trophy in the annual Ben Bouie Mixed Open competition at Helensburgh Golf Club.
The tournament attracted entries from pairs from a number of golf clubs, but the main prizes were all won by local players, with Peter and June adding to their considerable individual successes this season by posting a winning score of 38 stableford points.
Local players Sandy and Shona Bulloch were runners-up two points behind with 36 points, and the best scratch score also went to local youngsters Jack Armstrong and Sarah Kemp, with 26 points.
The day produced £320 from the raffle for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Meanwhile, the finals for the Breingan Medal and Breingan Brooch involved each of the monthly winners throughout the season for both the gents’ and ladies’ sections.
The winner of the Breingan Medal was Wyllie Robertson with a net 70, while Gemma Canham won the Breingan Brooch with her net score of 76 – one lower than runner-up Jackie Lightfoot.
These competitions are generously sponsored by DCF Builders and Joiners, and John Fraser from that company presented the trophies to the winners.
