THE 2018-19 amateur football season may be almost over – but at Ardencaple FC, thoughts are already turning to the start of a new campaign.
The club’s new amateur team, formed only 12 months ago, has just completed its first season in the Central Scottish AFL – and is holding an open day next weekend, with a bounce game for all players interested in joining the Caple adult set-up.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 8 at the Navy Pitch at the far end of Ardenconnel Road in Rhu, with access to the changing rooms available from 1pm and the match itself kicking off at 2pm.
Chairman Craig Holborn said: “Caple, ranked in the top one per cent of all Scottish clubs as an SFA accredited Platinum Club, was founded in 1968 and currently play on Saturday afternoons in the Central Scottish Amateur Football League (CSAFL), widely regarded as the top amateur league in the country.
“Home games are played on grass (weather/conditions permitting) at the Navy Pitch in Rhu or alternatively on artificial turf at Hermitage Academy, due to have its 3G surface upgraded during this close season.”
Full details of pre-season arrangements as well as plans for the season ahead will be provided during the open day.
