HELENSBURGH Cricket Club will welcome talent from Australia and South Africa to their ranks when the 2019 season begins in a few weeks.
Darren Butler and Jarryd Clancy have signed up with the Ardencaple club as their two overseas amateurs for the 2019 season.
Butler comes from Cape Town in South Africa and Clancy has made the long journey from Nowra, New South Wales, Australia.
Darren is a top order batsman who bowls off spin. He plays for Milnerton CC back home and captained his High School XI.
Jarryd is also a top order batsman and an opening bowler for Illawarra CC, a first grade club in the Australian set-up.
Helensburgh’s first XI, under the leadership of their youngest-ever captain, Gregor Chambers, begin their league season in the First Division of the Western District Cricket Union on May 4 with an away match against Dumfries side St Michael’s, before welcoming Ayr to Ardencaple for their first home league fixture seven days later.

Burgh’s second XI begin their WDCU Third Division campaign away to Marress on April 27 before GHK Strathclyde are the first away team to visit Ardencaple on May 4.
Meanwhile, Helensburgh’s new All Stars Cricket initiative, aimed at boys and girls aged five to eight, begins on May 2 with the first of eight hourly sessions running each Thursday.
