A TALENTED young goalkeeper from Garelochhead has taken his first steps towards achieving his dream of becoming a professional footballer by signing for the Motherwell FC Academy.
Kerr Reynolds, who is just nine years old, has been snapped up by the Steelmen after being offered his first pro youth contract.
He will now aim to follow in the footsteps of his heroes Scott Bain, the Celtic 'keeper, and David de Gea, the Manchester United goalie.
Garelochhead Primary pupil Kerr joined Ardencaple FC at the age of four and has played in goals for both Rangers and Celtic Academies over the last two years.
Dad Paul Reynolds said it was a proud moment for the whole family when Motherwell offered to sign the youngster.
He said: “The whole family are exceptionally proud of Kerr for the hard work and commitment he has shown over the last two years.”It’s not been easy for him but he has shown that he has a positive attitude and a determination to achieve his dream of playing professional football.
“Kerr is extremely happy and excited to start the season with his new club and his new team mates.”
“He is now back training four nights a week and playing his games at the weekends in the Club Academy Scotland Elite Games Programme.
“We would like to thank all the coaches at Ardencaple FC over the years for the help they have given Kerr to get to this stage.”
Craig Holborn, Ardencaple FC chairman, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that young Kerr has signed for Motherwell FC.
"We feel privileged to have contributed towards his development as a terrific young keeper and thanks must go to Joe McCaughey, our dedicated goalkeeper coach.
"Naturally, it’s a very proud moment for Caple when any of our players progress to this level and testimony to a lot of hard work by our coaching staff but also to a great deal of determination and dedication from Kerr himself, not to mention all the support that he receives from his family.”
