Helensburgh Hockey Club teamed up with Loch Lomond Hockey Club last weekend for a day-long festival with visiting teams from far and wide competing.
The festival was held at Helensburgh Rugby Club, using both a grass pitch and Lomond School astro pitch.
Six teams rocked up, including a team from Navan, Ireland, along with one from Oban and a Lomond School former pupils’ team.
The weekend started with a Friday night social at the rugby club where many of the players got to know one another. Saturdays schedule started with hockey at 10.30am, with each team played each other once.
A number of well-known hockey faces turned out, including current Scotland star Fiona Burnett, as well as Scotland Masters players Barry Cox, Rosie McColgan and Vanesa Sabala.
After a day of close competition, the final was a tense affair, with Navan playing against Oban on the astroturf and winning 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw.
Helensburgh Hockey Club president Brian Caulfield presented the awards, including wooden spoons to Barcalomond FP and the Clyde Bar Cup for the winners to Navan Hockey Club.
Ceilidh band Crowded Croft provided the entertainment before the party continued into the wee sma’ hours.
Gordon Black from Helensburgh Hockey Club said: “The event’s organising committee would like to thank all those that attended the event.
“A huge thank you to Helensburgh Rugby Club for hosting us and thanks to the event sponsors Babcock and RB Steel.
“The committee were delighted with the way the event went and hope to make this an annual event.”
