FIFTEEN bowlers from the Helensburgh and Lomond area have been selected to take part in trial games for the Dunbartonshire West county team in a few weeks’ time.
The trial games will be played at Renton Bowling Club on Saturday, April 28 at 2pm and Tuesday, May 1 at 6.30pm.
Six Colgrain Bowling Club players have been selected, along with three apiece from Helensburgh and Cove and Kilcreggan, two from Cardross and one from Garelochhead.
The local players selected are as follows: Michael Garry and John Filshie junior (Cardross), John Young, Michael Harrison, Robert Cavanna, John McBride, Billy Harvey and Scott Moorehouse (Colgrain), Alan Godfrey, John Neal and John Neal junior (Cove and Kilcreggan), Paul Dougan (Garelochhead) and Andrew Sneddon, Alan Air and Alistair Cameron (Helensburgh).
Meanwhile, Colgrain Bowling Club’s green was opened for the new season on Saturday afternoon, with visitors from other clubs joining Colgrain’s members for the first outdoor action of 2018.
Helensburgh Bowling Club’s green opening ceremony takes place this Saturday, April 14, with the ladies’ opening of the green following on Wednesday, April 18.
