A BROWNIE group in Rhu and Shandon celebrated their centenary by sharing cake and memories.

The 1st Rhu and Shandon Brownies was formed in December 1924 and, despite a brief suspension during the war, has run continuously ever since.

Former brownies, parents and helpers who attended the unit were invited to share their memories of past times on Sunday, December 1.

The girls in the group made special decorations for the big event and sang their welcome and goodnight song around the toadstool - a tradition started in 1955.
