HELENSBURGH'S leading lady waited a full century for her moment on stage - and it was worth the effort.
Isa Mackinnon, who recently turned 100 years young, was given the starring role of switching on Helensburgh's Christmas lights at the weekend.
Storm Bert added a snowy, then damp, layer of complication to the event but Isa said she was still delighted to take the stage.
The star on the tree was the last part of her birthday celebrations, which have included her friends at the Grey Matters charity.
She told the Advertiser: "Although it was a very snowy cold night, I felt very important having been given the privilege to light up Helensbugh's Christmas lights and see all the children happy because Santa was there.
"And a big thumbs up for my Christmas star from Grey Matters members, and thank to Vivien Dance and all the organisers - it was a wonderful birthday.”
Alison Gildea from Grey Matters said: "It was a wonderful afternoon and lots of members turned out to see Isa switch on the lights with Santa.
"Thank you so much to Vivien Dance and the festive lights team for organising this for Isa. Thank you also all the folk in the crowd who cheered Isa on. She is truly a star.”
And Grey Matters member Ann Roberts added: "Isa had a wonderful time. The star on the Christmas tree was the last celebration of her 100th birthday. Thanks to Vivien Dance for her endeavours and affection to Isa. Big thanks!"
