POLICE officers at HMNB Clyde topped up the much-needed supplies of Helensburgh's foodbank ahead of Christmas.

Officers based at the military base were able to make a large donation of products to the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank after operating a small tuck shop on base.

The tuck shop generated enough money to help top up the supplies that the charity will need to help feed people from now until the festive season.

The food was handed into the town's charity on November 14 by officers and will be distributed to those in need before Christmas.

And whilst speaking with the group, he laid the foundations for further help from HMNB Clyde in the future.

Meanwhile Helensburgh HEART's (formerly Helensburgh and District Roundtable) popular Santa Dash will see locals don their Santa costumes and run 4K throughout the town this Saturday, November 30 at 11am.

The Santa Dash will be the opening event of the Helensburgh Winter Festival which will take place across Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1.

Proceeds from that event will be going towards the Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank.
