A HELENSBURGH business is hoping to spread a little warmth this Christmas by launching a new tartan scarf in aid of a food bank.
Gift shop Tweedie is backing the local food bank by launching a new Helensburgh and Lomond District Tartan lambswool scarf this festive period.
The classic soft woollen scarves will add a touch of elegance to the art of looking smart and staying warm and, for every scarf sold, the team at Tweedie will be donating £3 to the town's food bank.
This first weaving of the tartan has created 150 scarves and their sale will bring in £450 for the food bank which will be made up to £500 by Tweedie.
Mairi Clayton of Tweedie, said: “We designed and created this new tartan for Helensburgh and District and thought that with Christmas coming it would be great to be able to share some of the warm feeling that our scarves will bring to their owners by supporting a valuable and valued local service.”
The Helensburgh and Lomond Tartan’s “registry notes”, a unique description of the tartan, state: “Located on the Clyde estuary Helensburgh is the principal town of Lomond and district.
“The tartan is a celebration of this special area and colours of Loch Lomond and the River Clyde feature strongly, working in harmony with hues of the heather and gorse covered hills and the dark mountains beyond.”
And as well as in scarves the Helensburgh and Lomond Tartan has been converted into gifts, accessories, caps and hats by the team at the Tweedie sewing studio on West Clyde Street and could provide the answer to many Christmas gift problems.
Having recently lost all their social media sites through a hacking incident the team at Tweedie are now back online and can be found on Facebook.
