A CHORAL concert is heading to Helensburgh later this month with a wonderful collection of song.
Glasgow Chamber Choir will be performing a Sunday at Seven concert in Helensburgh Parish Church on November 24.
The choir is marking their 30th anniversary this year by singing music written by composers also marking anniversaries.
Swiss composer Frank Martin died 50 years ago and his Mass for double Choir went undiscovered in a cupboard unperformed for many years.
Charles Villiers Stanford died 100 years ago. His setting of the Magnificat, also for double choir, was inspired by the motets of J. S. Bach.
And Jonathan Dove’s choral song cycle, The Passing of the Year, completes this virtuosic programme.
Conductor and pianist Michael Bawtree leads the choir in this one-hour performance. Entry to the 7pm show is free, with an opportunity to donate as you leave.
