HELENSBURGH Girlguiding members were amongst the crowds of all ages helping to pay tribute to the sacrifices of war.

The 1st, 2nd and 4th Helensburgh Brownies, 1st Helensburgh Guides and Western Division Rangers took park in the Remembrance Sunday service in Hermitage Park.

Leaders Claire Thomson, Rachel Balance, Aileen Baird, Bronach Hughes and Alison Ringrose were also on hand along with members of Clyde Trefoil and Friends of Girlguiding.

The Guides said after the services they planted crocuses around a tree stump that had been planted in the park to celebrate Girlguiding's golden jubilee but had to be felled.

Guides and Rangers leader Alison said: “Participating in the Remembrance service is a meaningful experience for our girls. It’s important for them to learn about and honour those who have made sacrifices.

“Planting the crocuses was a special moment for us all. It’s a small but significant way for our girls to connect with nature. Each spring, these flowers will remind us of the strength and resilience of our community.”
