A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged serious assault in Helensburgh last week.
Ross Taylor, 41, made no plea during a petition hearing held in private at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday, November 4.
He is accused of allegedly carrying out an assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life. The Crown allegation adds that Taylor attempted to murder an alleged male victim.
Mr Taylor was also charged with being in possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply it to another or others.
The Advertiser reported on Friday morning that police were investigating a reported attack on a 35-year-old man at a property on the town's Ben Bouie Drive.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment and Police Scotland confirmed that he was later discharged.
The force said a 41-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Mr Taylor, whose general address was given as Helensburgh, made no plea or declaration in relation to the charges during his court appearance today.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody pending a further court appearance at a later date.
A police spokesperson previously said: "At around 6.35am on Friday, November 1, we received a report of the serious assault of a 35-year-old man at a premises on Ben Bouie Drive, Helensburgh.
“Emergency services attended and he was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
“A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on November 4.”
