TRAIN services in Helensburgh have returned to normal after a controlled explosion was carried out in Clydebank.

Disruption was caused for people in the town when a bomb squad, police, and fire crews were stationed in the Dalmuir area of Clydebank after the 'suspect' item was found in a high-rise block of flats at Overtoun Court on Monday, October 28.

The incident meant all train lines were closed at Dalmuir from 2.50pm and services running through the station were cancelled, revised, or delayed.

However, it was announced by Network Rail a little over five hours later that all trains at Dalmuir train station remained closed that evening resulting in all trains to and from Helensburgh being cancelled.

The closure caused a few disruptions to morning commuters travelling to the Burgh until 9am as every second train was cancelled.

However, all trains have now returned to their normal timetable and ScotRail have said that services will no longer be affected by the incident.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a controlled explosion on the device was carried out and a 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery.
