ALL train services to and from Helensburgh Central have been cancelled due to a 'suspect' item discovery in Clydebank.

Bomb squad, police and fire crews have been stationed in the Dalmuir area of Clydebank, after the item was found in a high-rise block of flats at Overtoun Court on Monday, October 28.

The Glasgow Times reported that officers were carrying out searches in the area as part of an "ongoing investigation" when they came across the item.

The incident has meant all train lines have been closed at Dalmuir since 2.50pm and services running through the station were cancelled, revised, or delayed.

ScotRail were running trains from Helensburgh Central to Dumbarton Central, but rail passengers would have to switch to a different train line that avoids Dalmuir train station.

However, it has been confirmed by Network Rail that Dalmuir train station will remain closed this evening resulting in all trains to and from Helensburgh being cancelled.

The train operator has now confirmed that disruption is expected until 9am on Tuesday, October 29.

Chief Superintendent Gary I’Anson, divisional commander for Argyll & West Dunbartonshire, said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding as we continue to deal with this incident.

“Emergency services remain at the scene and police are working with partner agencies to provide support and reassurance to everyone affected.

“We would encourage anyone in the community with concerns to speak with officers in the area.”
