THE launch of a special week of events in Helensburgh and Lomond dedicated to tackling loneliness was dubbed "positively perfect".

Earlier this month, it was announced that the Big Braw Brew Week, organised by charity Age Scotland, Argyll & Bute Third Sector Interface and Helensburgh's own Grey Matters Active Ageing, would be held from October 19-25 for people over 50.

And people in the town weren't afraid to come and show their support at the launch event on Saturday, October 19.

There were a wide variety of stallholders from local charities, clubs and groups which included Alzheimer Scotland, Garelochhead Senior Citizens, Scottish Women’s Institute, Helensburgh and Lomond Carers, Cycling UK Probus, Garelochhead Station Trust, Helensburgh Lunch Club, Age Scotland and Grey Matters.

Arriving outside the hall to launch the event, local MSP Jackie Baillie said that she just followed the raucous sound of lively chatter and laughter.

The week has been a huge success so far and organisers have confirmed they will be looking towards next year's event after they were inspired by many positive comments.
