A NEW project for young people combining art and activism has been launched in Helensburgh.
Project Studio, run by Cove Park and supported by the Stafford Trust, is asking young people in the area for their views in a bid to make sure that the voice of youth is heard on a wider stage.
Being held at the Pavilion in Hermitage Park every Tuesday until November 26, the project includes film-making, stencilling, legal street art, protest banners, poster printing, tape art and paste-ups.
Questions being asked of the young participants include “what changes would you make in Helensburgh if you were in charge?”, “is building a supermarket on the pier a good idea?” and “what about moving the skatepark?”.
A spokesperson for the project said: “We want to make sure that young people feel empowered to share their ideas especially around the waterfront development, and so this weekly club will run for six weeks giving creative expression to their hopes for the town they live in.”
The first session on Tuesday saw the young participants create banners to take to the rally at the waterfront this Saturday, October 26, as well as making some tape art to share their thoughts.
