Calling all photographers! The Anderson Trust is inviting anyone interested in photography to be part of its 2025 exhibition.
Selected works will be displayed alongside some of the collection’s great artists, which include the likes of Sir James Guthrie, James Whitelaw Hamilton, Gregor Ian Smith, Norah Neilson Gray and James Kay.
From January until June each year, a selection of paintings from the trust’s collection on a chosen theme is hung on pubic display at Helensburgh Library.
And 'water' has been selected as the subject for 2025 - a theme which, it is hoped, offers great scope for the imagination - everything from rain to rivers and lochs.
The trust has said that a display of photographs of water, in any of its forms, from local photographers would greatly enhance the exhibition.
The Anderson (Local Collection) Trust originated from the bequest of local benefactor Annie Templeton Anderson. It was established in 1981 to maintain and exhibit paintings from the collection for the enjoyment of the local community.
Submissions from anyone in Helensburgh and surrounding area would be welcomed and organisers are urging people not to be put off by lack of equipment or experience.
A spokesperson said: “You don’t have to be a professional to take great photographs and the ‘best camera’ is ‘the camera you have on you’ and your eye.”
Entries, limited to 2 per person, must be hard-copy, unframed, photographic prints no larger than A4 and the work of the person submitting them.
Each print should have a label on the back with the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of the photographer, together with title or a note of where the picture was taken.
The trust will handle entries with care, but no responsibility can be accepted for mishandling outwith the trust’s control.
Photographs should be handed to the librarian in Helensburgh Library or sent addressed to Anderson Trust Water Photographs, c/o Helensburgh Library, 59 West King Street, Helensburgh G84 8EB.
Photos may be collected from the library at the close of the exhibition.
The closing date for submissions is Friday November 22.
