PLANS have been submitted for a Taynuilt workshop to extend its premises and form new office space.

Stuart Livingstone has submitted a proposal to Argyll and Bute Council for the works to take place at the Oakview Workshop in the village.

Mr Livingstone’s joinery company has used the workshop site for 13 years, with a statement saying that the office is now needed for staff training and client meetings.

A decision from council officers is expected by the middle of December, and the public can now view plans and submit feedback.

A design statement said: “Stuart Livingstone Joinery Ltd are a long-established company which has been using the Oakview workshop site for over 13 years.

“The business has expanded and there is now a need for a dedicated office facility with a meeting room for staff training, clients’ meetings and staff welfare area.

“The office has been designed as a single-storey lean-to structure placed on the north-eastern elevation of one of the existing workshops.

“The structure is deliberately small scale to minimise the visual impact from the A85. The roof material will be profiled metal in anthracite grey to subtly separate the office from the existing storage workshop buildings.

“The walls will be finished with a good quality sustainably sourced larch timber cladding. This will then slowly turn grey which when coupled with the grey roof, will form a structure that will sit quietly against the existing shed almost as a shadow.

“The high-performance double-glazed UPVC glazing has been placed to make the most of natural light.

“An overhang has been added to the roof to provide rain protection to the openings and in the summer months this will help to minimise solar gain.”
