SPECIAL cycling events are heading to the town this week with fun for all ages.
Cycling UK has family-friendly events on Thursday and Friday to encourage everyone from toddlers to adults to learn how to ride and enjoy a bike.
As well as building confidence, it aims to help the community see cycling as a fun and sustainable way to travel.
The events will take place at Kirkmichael Sports and Recreation Association Grounds on October 17 and at Hermitage Park on October 18.
There will be four activities on offer.
Play Together on Pedals is aimed at children aged two and over to learn how to ride on balance bikes or pedal bikes. It will also be to build confidence, coordination and cycling skills with experienced instructors.
For adults, they offer bike riding lessons for those who have never been on a bike or who haven't been on one for a while. Adults can also try e-bikes with Cycling UK staff on hand for your questions and answers.
Dr Bike sessions will feature William from Cadence Cycles offering free help with safety checks, adjustments or minor fixes.
Organisers said: "Whether you're taking your first steps on a balance bike, looking to get back on a bike, or curious about e-bikes, come along to an event, get involved, and talk with the Cycling UK team about how we can support you in using active travel in the future.
"The event is open to all ages and skill levels. Families, individuals, and cycling enthusiasts are encouraged to attend.
"Cycling UK is dedicated to promoting cycling and active lifestyles through community programs and events. We believe that cycling is for everyone, and we aim to make it accessible, fun, and safe for people of all ages."
