DETAILS of a special week of events aimed at tackling loneliness in older people in Helensburgh and Lomond have been announced.
The Big Braw Brew Week, organised by charity Age Scotland and Helensburgh's own Grey Matters Active Ageing, is on from October 19-25 for people over 50 and there will be free tea, coffee and cake throughout.
The event to launch the free week will take place on Saturday, October 19 at Helensburgh Parish Hall from 10.30am until 12.30pm where there will be entertainment and a dozen information stalls on topics and activities of interest to over-50s.
The following day, on Sunday, October 20, people are invited to drop-in to Grey Matters on 61 West Princes Street to try out Body Boosting Bingo from 1.30pm to 3pm with tea and cake available.
People are invited to drop-in for energy and benefits advice from Helensburgh and Lomond Carers Centre between 10am and 12pm at the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar on Monday, October 21.
On October 22, there will be a Hallowe'en Brunch at Centre 81 which people are requested to book a place in advance.
There will be a second energy and benefits advice session at Cardross village hub on October 23 between 10am and 2pm where free tea and cake will be offered.
Stalls from Made Guid from Dumbarton and Home Farm Flowers and Crafts from Camis Eskan will be at the event.
There’s more activity in Garelochhead on Thursday, October 24 as there are free taster sessions of aromatherapy available at Centre 81, again provided by Helensburgh and Lomond Carers Centre.
Meanwhile in the afternoon, from 2pm in the Gibson Hall, the Garelochhead Senior Citizens will have tea, cake and chat with advice available on energy and benefits.
And the Big Braw Brew week finishes in the town on October 25 when the Helensburgh Lunch Club will be providing an information stall alongside their usual lunch from 12-2pm in the United Reformed Church in West Princes Street.
