Some epic music is coming to town courtesy of our own Helensburgh Orchestral Society.
Their concert on October 26 will include works by Rossini, Smetana and Beethoven after many hours of practice by the dedicated musicians.
Organisers have promised audiences will instantly recognise the famous second movement in Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.
They said: "It was used in the Oscar-winning film 'The King’s Speech' during the climactic scene.
"And when, years ago, it was first played, the audience demanded an encore before the next movement was played.
"The piece by Smetana (Má Vlast) translates as ‘My Country’ and evokes tender memories of old Bohemia and shows Smetana’s great love for his fatherland (now the Czech Republic)."
The concert will be in the Victoria Halls from 7.30pm. Tickets can be bought at the door or at Destination Helensburgh in Sinclair Street. Refreshments provided.
The musicians added: "Come and relax and fill your ears with beautiful music played by our town’s 50-strong own orchestra."
