A FOOD bank collection is to take place this weekend in Rhu - and public support is vital.
As increasing numbers turn to their community for help, Rhu and Shandon Parish Church is accepting donations on Saturday, October 12 from 10am to 11am.
Organisers said tinned items are urgently needed. These include tinned meats such as corned beef, Fray Bentos pies, stews, chicken and ham, and tinned rice pudding and custard.
Other items needed are:
- Breakfast cereals
- UHT long life milk
- Tinned vegetables
- Tinned tomatoes
- Tinned soup
- Tinned baked beans
- Tinned fruit
- Tinned fish (sardines, mackerel etc)
- Pasta and jars of pasta cooking sauces
- One litre bottles of oil
- Coffee small jars 100g
- Teabags (each containing foil bags of 40)
The food bank cannot take fresh food, opened items or out-of-date food.
The church said: "On behalf of the food bank, we thank you for your continued, generous support."
