THE army of residents turning out to keep the Clydeside clean continues their work, this time in Cardross.
A weekend beach clean at Cardross saw about 30 bags filled with rubbish, many of them smaller pieces of plastic that plague wildlife the world over.
Cardross Community Council organised the event on Saturday and thanked volunteers, including young people.
Bob Murray told the Advertiser: "Around two dozen volunteers got up early to help, and fortunately, despite a poor forecast, it stayed dry.
"Good to see so many youngsters, including a contingent from the local Scout trop, joining us.
"We filled around 30 bags with rubbish, much of it small pieces of plastic, along with an assortment of other items including some discarded sections of kitchen cabinets.
"Who would think of installing a new kitchen and just chucking the old one into the Clyde?
"CardrossCAN actively supported the event, and we are grateful once again to Craig Callaghan of Argyll and Bute Council for providing the necessary kit and arranging uplift of the rubbish we collected.
"Our next beach clean will be held in April, but we are always grateful to local walkers who regularly pick up rubbish when from the shore and roadsides."
