A BREAK-IN at a charity's museum cabin in Balloch earlier this week has sparked a police probe.
The Maid of the Loch's museum cabin was broken into by thieves on Monday, September 23 and their donation box and £60 cash was stolen.
The charity has said that the donation box was found later on a footpath in the area.
Police have confirmed that they received the break-in report at the premises on Pier Street and that enquiries are still ongoing.
A spokesperson from the Maid of the Loch said: "We were very sad and upset to discover the break-in and that the thieves also got away with £60 in hard earned cash.
"The donation box was found later, near the footpath towards Balloch, so this suggests the thief or thieves probably did not have a car.
"Please also let it be known that from now on no cash will be left anywhere on-site overnight."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.25am on Tuesday, September 24 we received a report of a break-in at a premises on Pier Street, Balloch, which happened overnight.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
