A NEW community hub to help people access council resources and information is to open in Kilcreggan.

The pilot community hub, created in partnership with Cove and Kilcreggan Community Hub and Argyll and Bute Council, will be located in the Post Office and shop in the village from October 1.

The Post Office and shop owners will manage the hub as a voluntary service for anyone in the area who is unable to travel to the council’s customer service point in Helensburgh.

It will be open six days a week during Post Office/shop opening hours and will offer the following services:

  • Paper forms: Access commonly requested forms for services and benefits for those who can’t or prefer not to fill them out online.

  • Interactive touchscreens: Tap into a direct link to the council website to access services and information.

  • Leaflets and brochures: Information on a wide range of services and benefits available to you.

  • Free bin calendars: Pick up a free coloured bin calendar for Cove and Kilcreggan.

Councillor Iain Shonny Paterson, deputy policy lead for community planning and corporate services, said: “Working with the Cove and Kilcreggan Community Hub, we want rural communities to have access to council resources they want and need.

"We know that some residents are unable to travel to our customer service point in Helensburgh and others may not be digitally connected.

“This new pilot service brings together council services in the heart of the community making it easier for people to get the information they need.

"We’re keen to hear feedback when the service launches in October and to know if there are other services or information the community would like to see at the hub.

"Based on the success of this pilot, the council will then look at the potential roll out of further hubs across rural communities.”
