SUPERSTARS of the submarine service were celebrated at The Submarine Oscars in Glasgow.
The Submarine Awards Evening 2024 returned on Sunday, September 15 for the annual black-tie night at the Glasgow Hilton.
Submariners, their loved-ones, and those who have gone the extra mile to support the silent service, were recognised for their professionalism, leadership, and commitment.
Paul Dunn, commodore of the submarine service, said: “Attending this year’s annual Submarine Awards ceremony has been an extraordinary experience.
“The dedication, bravery, and exceptional performance of our submarine crews, families, and wider submarine enterprise is nothing short of inspiring. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was palpable and the recognition of such outstanding achievements reinforces the incredible spirit that defines our submarine service.
“This event highlights the excellence and commitment that drive our mission forward and I am immensely proud of everyone involved.”
In a personal video from Sir Ben Key, the professional head of the Royal Navy and First Sea Lord Admiral, those gathered were thanked for their tireless dedication and vital role in maintaining the Royal Navy’s strategic edge from beneath the waves.
Thirteen different awards were presented during the night, with each one highlighting the submarine community’s unique and outstanding efforts.
The awards included The Orpheus Award given to the team who have made a significant contribution to submarine safety and The Naval Families Federation Award given to advocate who helps enable naval families.
Throughout the night, the guests experienced fine dining, music from the band Ready to Go, and special gift bag to take home.
