PUPILS and staff at Kilcreggan Primary School are celebrating after having their Green Flag status renewed.

News of the sixth green flag for the school was announced earlier this month and everyone was excited to hear that their hard work had paid off.

The children from the Peninsula school worked hard on various projects including initiating the 'Terracycle Scheme' and presenting a 'Terracycle assembly'.

They involved Argyll and Bute social enterprise GRAB Trust to deliver sustainability workshops and helped with a local beach clean.

And they were inspired by Ardroy Outdoor Learning Centre's food initiative scheme, so they started their own Food Waste Warriors campaign to help reduce food waste in their school.

Principal teacher Charlotte Kingaby said: "The pupils created a Kilcreggan Primary School Eco website to show our community what we have been up to and how to get involved with sustainability

"Parent helpers and community members helped along the journey showing the achievement really was a community effort. Well done to everyone involved."

The primary school achieved their fifth flag in 2021 by looking at waste minimisation around the school, and undertaking various activities such as a no waste tuck shop at break times.

The Green Flag also supports the UN Convention on Rights of a Child (UNCRC) and helps take a step towards The Global Goals.
