A MAN who took a swing at his ex's new partner but hit her instead has been admonished.
Andrew Ross, of St Modans Howe, Garelochhead, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week having previously admitted the assault.
He had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman by punching her on the head on September 2, 2023 in East Princes Street, Helensburgh.
Sentence had been deferred for the 29-year-old to be of good behaviour and Sheriff Lorna Anderson was told he had been.
Defence solicitor Scott Adair said his client had exchanged words outside a pub and aimed at his ex's new partner, missed and caught her instead.
He added that Ross was a first offender and has been under bail conditions for some time.
Sheriff Anderson said: "You were asked to be of good behaviour and you have done that. Given your lack of record, you're admonished."
No non-harassment order was made.
