A teenager trying to get to work was let off a bus 30 minutes and 34 miles later in Inveraray.

Her employer denounced Citylink for refusing to let the 17-year-old off the 976 bus on Wednesday morning at Arrochar.

Michael Slaven, owner of The Arrochar Tearoom, said it was "out of order".

And he said it is just the latest incident, with the teenager not picked up at least three times with a pre-booked ticket and waiting at a designated pick-up point.

Citylink has been approached for comment.

The teenager boarded the bus at 9.20am at the Balloch Layby North stop near Cameron House on Loch Lomond. It was meant to get her in to open the tearoom for 10am.

About five people stood to get off at the Arrochar Braeside Stores stop, said Mr Slaven, and the driver "decided to keep going".

"The girl was a bit worried," he said.

He phoned and the bus was then at the top of the Rest and Be Thankful - and kept going.

He followed the pin for the journey on his phone and the bus didn't stop until Inveraray.

Mr Slaven is based in Glasgow and the teenager had the keys to open so another member of staff was also stuck. She eventually got a bus heading back to Glasgow to get to work.

"It was an awful carry-on," said the business owner. "She got to work at 12 - I lost two hours trade.

"She's only 17, walks half an hour up to the stop. She has missed three shifts because bus drivers didn't stop - twice in one day.

"Citylink aren't providing the service they should. They have a duty to do their job. A 27 minute journey turned into more than an hour. These drivers are just at it.

"The girl should not have been put in this kind of situation - and it was really annoying for me as well."
