A NUMBER of people have been stopped by police for their driving across Helensburgh and Lomond in the past week.
The bad drivers were given fixed penalty notices having been clocked above the speed limit in Luss, Arrochar and Tarbet, Kilcreggan and Helensburgh.
A 25-year-old from Dunfermline was given a fixed penalty notice for driving at 43mph in a 30mph zone on the A818 eastbound near the council depot on the edge of Helensburgh.
The incident happened at about 10.17am on August 29. He was fined £100 and three penalty points were added to his licence.
On August 30, near Shore Road, Kilcreggan, a 75-year-old man from Bishopton was fined £100 and given three penalty points for careless driving. The offence happened at 2.35pm.
The next day, a 58-year-old man from Inverclyde was given a fixed penalty notice for driving at 47mph in a 30mph zone on the A83 eastbound, near Tarbet.
It happened at 8.17pm and he was fined £100 and handed three penalty points.
A few minutes later, on the same stretch of road, a 63-year-old woman from Glasgow was fined for speeding at 48mph in the 30mph zone at 8.42pm.
She was also given a fixed penalty notice of £100 and three penalty points.
In a separate incident, at about 6.35pm on August 26, a 38-year-old man from Helensburgh allegedly committed a number of driving offences, including being behind the wheel without a valid licence or insurance policy.
The offence, near the electricity substation between Fisher Place and Winston Road in the town, has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
Around 2.55pm on August 29, a 34-year-old from Dumbarton was also arrested for allegedly driving while disqualified and without insurance near Talisman Crescent, Helensburgh.
He was held in custody to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
And a 67-year-old from North Ayrshire was arrested for alleged dangerous driving on the A82 through Luss on September 1.
After the incident, at about 6pm, the man was released to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court at a later date.
