A PRIMARY school toast club in Helensburgh has been handed a funding boost to help give free breakfast to pupils.
Hermitage Primary’s Toast Club gives pupils a healthy breakfast before school and is run by health and wellbeing family liaison, Madeline Paton, and additional support needs [ASN] assistant Arlene McNeilage.
The club provides a space for pupils of all ages and backgrounds to have a breakfast of toast, cereal and fruit, and socialise before school starts.
The local branches of Tesco, Morrisons, and the Co-op as well as the Olio app regularly donate food to the club.
In the past, we have previously reported when the Young Carers group generously gave the school toasters, while the Naval Children’s Charity awarded a grant to the group.
It has been announced that the Tesco Stronger Starts Scheme have awarded the Hermitage Primary Toast Club £1,500 to develop their daily free breakfast club which is accessible to all pupils in the school.
