There are twice as many opportunities to help tidy our corner of the planet over the coming weeks.

The next in the series of monthly Helensburgh promenade beach cleans will take place on Saturday, August 24, from 10am until 12noon.

The organisers, from Helensburgh Community Council and the Plastic Free Helensburgh Litter Pickers, say they are looking forward to seeing as many of their regular volunteers as can make it - while new volunteers are always welcome to join in.

Meet at the pier slipway and bring suitable gloves with you.

Then the following week on Saturday, August 31, there is a second event in Colquhoun Square at 10am.

Members of the community council will be tidying up the shrub beds in the town centre, so volunteers are asked to bring their gloves and tools when lending a hand.
