A NEW community lottery has been launched to support children and young people who live in Cove and Kilcreggan.
Rosneath Peninsula West Community Development Trust (the Trust) has set up a Cove and Kilcreggan Community Lottery to raise money for local good causes that support children and young people.
The first £2,000 raised from the new lottery will be going to the Youth Café to further help support young people to meet, chat and take part in activities.
The lottery, which is now live, will be administered on behalf of the Trust by One Lottery and costs just £1 a ticket to play.
The Trust has confirmed that half of the weekly takings will be set aside for good causes and a guaranteed 24 per cent paid out for prizes every week with the remainder for administrative costs.
Entry is via the website and payment is by monthly direct debit.
All those who play are also entered in to a weekly draw to win the £25,000 jackpot and other prizes such as theatre trips and holidays.
Tom Walker, from the Trust, said: "As the lottery grows the trust will invite groups, organisations and individuals to apply for funds to support children and young people with items such as equipment, courses and training, experiences, specialist input and trips potentially funded.
"We hope children and young people in the local area will be able to use the funds to gain skills, receive training and expertise in areas like sport, languages and technical skills.
"It may even be used to help fund additional equipment for the school, or medical centre.
"We hope those who take part will spend their winnings locally, or save them for a rainy day.
"Winners would also be welcome to donate their winnings to the local good causes fund as well."
Anyone in the UK can take part, but only ten tickets can be purchased in a single transaction.
If 20 tickets are purchased by the same person, they will receive a call from One Lottery to confirm they meant to purchase that number of tickets.
People who are interested in taking part can visit their Facebook group or website at onelottery.co.uk/support/cove-and-kilcreggan-community-lottery.
